Tonight's Must-See
• "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius" series premiere, 8:30 p.m., Nickelodeon. On one level this is your standard, computer-animated tale of a brilliant boy who keeps inventing things, sometimes disastrously. But there's also an offbeat wit that shows that clever grown-ups are involved in this TV series based on the Oscar-nominated movie. John A. Davis created it. Steve Oedekerk, a standup comic, is producer. • "Starship Troopers" (1997), 7 p.m., Fox. Great-looking young soldiers fight nasty-looking insects. The good guys are played by Casper Van Dien, Denise Richards, Dina Meyer, and Neil Patrick Harris of "Doogie Howser" fame. Paul Verhoeven, who once distinguished himself with "RoboCop," directed.
