Driver sued in death of teen pedestrian

Advertiser Staff

The parents of a 16-year-old 'Ewa Beach girl who died after being struck by a car July 19 while attempting to cross Fort Weaver Road are suing the driver of the car that hit the girl.

A lawsuit filed yesterday in Circuit Court on behalf of Alberto and Isabelita Bacani by attorney James Bickerton claims Janet T. Uchida failed to keep a proper lookout, was inattentive to her driving and failed to yield the right of way when her car struck Marilene Bacani in a marked crosswalk near Karayan Street.

Uchida could not be reached yesterday to comment.

The lawsuit seeks general, special and punitive damages with the amount to be determined at trial.
