BYUH volleyball team improves record to 7-0

Chun Yi Lin had 18 kills and Yu Chuan Weng 16 as No. 7 Brigham Young-Hawai'i swept host Western Washington in the final of the Western Washington Invitational yesterday at Bellingham, Wash.
The scores were 30-28, 35-33, 30-23.
BYUH (7-0 overall, 4-0 in the tournament) ended the Vikings' 24-match home winning streak.
Western Washington, ranked No. 11, fell to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the tournament.
In an earlier match, Lin had 18 kills and Weng 17 as BYUH swept UC Davis, 33-31, 30-17, 30-18.
Lin and Weng are freshmen from Taiwan.

Hilo third: Hawai'i-Hilo defeated Humboldt State (Calif.), 30-23, 30-20, 30-28, in the third-place match of the Cal Poly Pomona Invitational yesterday at Pomona, Calif.
In an earlier match, Lindsay Fischer had 14 kills and 13 digs as Cal Poly Pomona beat Hilo, 30-24, 28-30, 30-16, 30-28.
Sara Pilgreen had 18 kills and hit .341 to lead Hilo against Pomona.
U.S. remains unbeaten: Logan Tom and Danielle Scott each scored a team-high 19 points as the United States remained unbeaten at the Women's Volleyball World Championships with a thrilling 3-2, second-round win over the Netherlands last night at Riesa, Germany.
The scores were 25-15, 18-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-13.
Former University of Hawai'i All-American Heather Bown added 15 points on 12 kills, two blocks and one ace for the U.S, which improved to 7-0 and assured itself of a berth in the quarterfinals.
MEETINGS
QB Club: University of Hawai'i assistant head football coach George Lumpkin and running backs coach Wes Suan, St. Louis School athletic director Cal Lee, and Iolani football coach Wendell Look will speak at tomorrow's meeting at the Pagoda Hotel.
Lunch begins at 11 a.m., with the program to follow at noon.
Na Koa: UH head football coach June Jones and defensive coordinator Kevin Lempa headline the Na Koa buffet lunch tomorrow at the All-Star Cafe in Waikiki.
