Associated Press

WELLS, Nev. (AP) Two people were killed and a third was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate-80 west of Wells, the Nevada Highway Patrol said today.

Investigators said the car driven by Kafoa Talau Fa, 60, of Las Vegas ran down an embankment and overturned early Saturday about 3.6 miles from Wells.

Fa was pronounced dead at the scene, as was his 27-year-old passenger Sione Mahe of Hau'ula, Hawai'i. Fa was wearing a seat belt, Mahe was not, the patrol said.

Another passenger, Kaselemi Makaafi, 26, whose hometown was not immediately available, received serious injuries and was taken to a hospital in Elko. He was wearing a seat belt.
