No. 3 BYU-Hawai'i tops Cal State-L.A. in 5 games

Freshman Yu Chuan Weng had a match-high 21 kills as the third-ranked Brigham Young-Hawai'i women's volleyball team beat No. 16 Cal State-Los Angeles in five games last night at Cannon Activities Center.
The scores were 28-30, 30-16, 27-30, 30-19, 15-6.
The Seasiders (9-0) jumped from No. 7 to No. 3 in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll released earlier yesterday.
The Seasiders are behind top-ranked Cal State-San Bernardino and South Dakota State.
Cal State-L.A. moved up from No. 17.
On Saturday, BYUH defeated 10th-ranked Western Washington in Bellingham, Wash., breaking the team's 24-match home winning streak.
Unranked in the preseason, BYUH went 3-0 to open the season, including an upset of defending NCAA Division II champion and former top-ranked Barry (Miami, Fla.). Those victories catapulted the Seasiders from 26th to 7th in the first poll.
Hawai'i Pacific remained in the Top 25 for the third consecutive week, but fell from 18th to 24th. The Sea Warriors lost to Cal State-L.A. Saturday.
Hawai'i's Pacific West Conference teams BYUH, HPU (5-3), Chaminade (6-1) and UH-Hilo (4-7) open conference play this week.
