'Sunset on the Beach' to honor Hawai'i firefighters

Advertiser Staff

Well, if you're heading for Waikiki anyway, you might as well stay all day and into the night and take in the "Sunset on the Beach" events today and tomorrow at Queen's Surf Beach.

Tonight's "Sunset" includes a special feature: Filmmaker Edgy Lee's "A Tribute to Hawaii's Fire Fighters" will premiere at 6:50 p.m., a fitting reminder as we continue to mark the first anniversary of the 9/11 terrorism. Afterward, at about 7:50, the Elvis Presley nugget, "Blue Hawaii," will be screened.

Tomorrow's movie is "Notting Hill," a romantic comedy starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, also showing at 7:50. "Sunset" begins at 4 p.m., with food and drink available at booths ranging from Catania Resto-rante Italiano and Fort Ruger Market to Pizza Hut and Popcorn Express.

The Aloha Festivals royal court is scheduled to appear at 6:20 p.m. today.

Admission is free. 523-2489.
