'Sopranos' are back with a vengeance

"The Sopranos," television's first family of organized crime, returns for a new season of mayhem — its fourth — on premium cable channel HBO. It airs at 6 p.m. tomorrow.

From all accounts, this episode — the first new one in 16 months — shows that the series' trademark brilliance is intact. Writes Tom Jicha of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel: "Debate over whether this is TV's finest drama will become passe this season. The argument, if there is one, is going to move to the higher plane of whether this is the finest series ever."
