Boy critical after accident
A 14-year-old boy was taken to The Queen's Medical Center yesterday in critical condition after a moped and a car were involved in an accident on the 3300 block of Roundtop Drive, officials said.
Emergency Medical Services personnel said the call came in at 3:30 p.m. and an EMS crew was at the scene at 3:37. The boy was on life support in critical condition when he was taken to Queen's, they said.
The hospital last night would not release information on the boy because he is a minor.
Two injured avoiding crash
A man and woman were critically injured early yesterday when the man laid his motorcycle down in a Kapahulu intersection to avoid colliding with a tourist van.
The accident happened about 7:50 a.m. at Campbell Avenue and Herbert Street. Both injured people were from the Honolulu area.
Police said a 35-year-old man driving a white 1989 Dodge van carrying 15 Japanese visitors made a left turn off Herbert onto Campbell, entering the intersection at the same time as the motorcycle.
The 34-year-old motorcyclist, who had been westbound on Campbell, put the bike down to avoid hitting the van.
He and his passenger, a 39-year-old woman, were taken to The Queen's Medical Center by ambulance. Both were listed in critical condition last night.
