Concert promoter Ken Rosene celebrated

A celebration of life for concert promoter Ken Rosene will be held Thursday at the Elks Lodge of Hawai'i. Rosene died Sept. 10. He was 56.

Ken Rosene helped bring many famous musicians to Hawai'i.

Rosene's music career spanned 30 years and he promoted concerts by such notables as Santana, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart and Aerosmith. He also was the executive director and co-founder of the Sunshine Festivals, which were held in Diamond Head Crater.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Rosene split time between Hawai'i and the West Coast as president of KMR Productions and Ken Rosene Presents. He also was a music critic for The Advertiser.

Rosene is survived by brothers Dennis and Gary; his mother, Della; and his girlfriend, Kathleen Gray.

The celebration of life and scattering of ashes will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
