FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Fried Oreos, Chefwear and the Gripper

By Wanda A. Adams
Advertiser Food Editor

I have been on vacation this week, so I am offering these tidbits of interest gleaned from our news services:

Gilding the cookie: Seen at the Montgomery County (Md.) Fair last weekend: Fried Oreos, $1.50 each. They had enough batter to look like onion rings and were served with a pile of powdered sugar. — Washington Post

Sit and stay! For safety's sake, a cutting board must remain stable while in use. A damp cloth on the counter, under the board, is one way to achieve stability. Then there is the Gripper — a tough, polypropylene cutting surface with a nonskid underside.

The beauty of this slim board is in the more than 300 soft, octopus-like suction feet that hold its 11-by-14-inch, dishwasher-safe cutting plane in place.

Gripper cutting boards (about $14.99 each) are available at Macy's. — Washington Post
