Escapee arrested; Two girls still at large

Police yesterday arrested the eighth of 10 teenage girls who escaped Aug. 31 from the Hawai'i Youth Correctional Facility in Kailua.

Officers from the Windward Crime Reduction Unit spotted the girl driving a vehicle at around 9 a.m. in the Kahalu'u area. The car was stopped and the girl arrested without incident.

Ten girls fled from the facility after overpowering two guards Aug. 31. Anyone with information about the two still at large may call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone.
