Serviceman dies in fall from roof

An Air Force active-duty member died after falling from the Pacific Air Forces headquarters just before 1 p.m. yesterday at Hickam Air Force Base, officials said.

The service member was transported to Tripler Army Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause of death is being investigated by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. Air Force officials yesterday would not release the Air Force member's age or identity pending notification of his family.

Base officials declined to say if the man was supposed to be on the roof of the building.
