Restaurant association backs Lingle

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Restaurant Association today said it is endorsing Republican Linda Lingle in the governor's race.

"The restaurant industry is looking for real change," said the association's president, Michele Van Hessen. "We need a candidate who truly understands business concerns and which sees us as a partner to create a better economy and an improved quality of life for all of Hawai'i. Linda Lingle has that proven track record and leadership to create a better business environment for our restaurant industry and for the state in general."

The association is made up of 3,500 restaurants, employs more than 50,000 people and generates $2.7 billion in annual sales.
