Tuttle resigns Punahou track post

Advertiser Staff

Punahou's Dan Tuttle III, the most successful high-school girls track and field coach in Hawai'i history, resigned yesterday for the second time.

Tuttle's teams won 10 straight Interscholastic League of Honolulu and state championships in his first tour from 1981-90. He returned after a decade of other pursuits and coached last season, taking second place in the state.

Tuttle, 47, said his resignation has "nothing to do with not winning states, and everything to do with personal family things and focusing more on teaching."

He is a middle school science teacher at Punahou, and is deeply involved in planning for the Case Middle School.

Applicants for the job must submit resumes to Punahou by Oct. 4.
