Fans should know by late this afternoon whether tomorrow night's HHSAA/First Hawaiian Bank Classic will be shown on live TV here, KGMB general manager Rick Blangiardi said last night.

Blangiardi will discuss the situation today with HHSAA executive director Keith Amemiya, who is the Classic's chairperson.

"We should have a decision by no later than mid-afternoon," Blangiardi said.

Under the TV deal struck by KGMB and Amemiya two weeks ago, the games will be shown live only if 40,000 tickets were sold by the end of today. Aloha Stadium manager Eddie Hayashi said last night that over 25,000 tickets have been sold.

"To be honest, it looks like there will not be 40,000 presale tickets," Blangiardi said. "But we remain hopeful. (Today) will be a telling day; then we gotta look at it."

The games will be broadcast live on radio by KUMU AM 1500, and it also will be available live via the internet through Hawai'i Sports Network.

The link to the Classic will appear on the HSN site at www.hawaiisportsnetwork.com
