WASHINGTON — Here are some actions in Congress last week.

Key House votes:

1. Rent-to-own companies

The House voted 215-201 to pass a bill that would impose new disclosure requirements on merchants that use rent-to-own contracts to lease electronic equipment, furniture and other merchandise.

Hawaii votes: Neil Abercrombie (D) NAY; Patsy Mink (D) DID NOT VOTE

2. Welfare

The House voted 280-123 to pass a resolution urging Congress to complete action on a bill that would extend the 1996 welfare reforms. The welfare reforms expire Sept. 30.

Hawaii votes: Neil Abercrombie (D) YEA; Patsy Mink (D) DID NOT VOTE

3. Estate tax

The House voted 242-158 to pass a resolution urging Congress to complete action on a bill that would permanently repeal the estate tax. The bill is a key priority of House Republicans.
