Musashimaru defeats Takanohana for title

Yokozuna Musashimaru (Fiamalu Penitani of Wai'anae) drove fellow grand champion Takanohana back and out of the ring to win the September Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo today.

Musashimaru (13-2) passed retired yokozuna Akebono, Hawai'i's Chad Rowan, with his 12th tournament victory, and third this year.

Taiho won a record 32 tournaments.

Takanohana (12-3) was wrestling in his first tournament since returning from a knee injury.
