• American Savings Bank has announced several changes in management: DANELL KANAE has been appointed operations manager of its Kahului Wal-Mart branch. Kanae, who has more than 15 years of banking experience, previously served as an assistant operations manager for the Wailuku Sack-N-Save branch. LYNN KUDO has been appointed operations manager for the bank's Waipouli Foodland branch. Kudo, who has 30 years of banking experience, most recently was an operations supervisor for the Lihu'e branch. NELSON MOKU III has been appointed operations manager of the bank's 'Aina Haina branch. Moku previously served as an operations supervisor for American Savings' Waikiki branch. MARTIN TADLAS JR. has been appointed branch sales manager at the Kane'ohe-Kahuhipa branch. Before joining American Savings Bank, Tadlas was a business banker with City Bank. JAMIE VALDEZ has been appointed operations supervisor of the bank's branch at Waipouli Foodland. Valdez was a personal banker and loan officer at Central Pacific Bank before joining American Savings.

• Bank of Hawaii has announced three promotions: ALAN KURIOWA has been promoted from assistant vice president to vice president. He continues his responsibilities as a senior trust officer. DEBBIE KURIOWA has been promoted from assistant vice president to vice president. She will continue her responsibilities as service manager, managing all branch service staff for the bank's main and Chinatown branches. MERLEEN LEE has been promoted from assistant vice president to vice president. She will continue as special assets manager.

• First Hawaiian Bank has announced six officer changes: DEAN M. MURAKAMI has been appointed assistant vice president for Trust Institutional Financial Services. Murakami joined First Hawaiian in 1998. MARIA TERESA OKUDA has been appointed employee benefit officer for the Trust Employee Benefits Department. Okuda began working for the company in 1990. ANNIE H. N. PANG-TAN has been appointed audit officer for the Legal Department. She has been with the bank since 1991. PATRICIA M. SOMMERS has been promoted to assistant vice president and private banking officer for the Private Banking Center. Sommers joined the bank in 1993. DALERIE I. K. TANIGAWA has been appointed administrative officer for the Legal Department. Tanigawa joined First Hawaiian in 1979. MICHAEL R. WESTFALL has been promoted to assistant vice president for Trust Institutional Financial Services. Westfall has been with the company since 1984.

• First Insurance Co. has named three new officers: TONY ABAD has been promoted to vice president with responsibility for the personal lines underwriting, customer services, auxiliary and underwriting support departments of the company. He has more than 26 years of experience with First Insurance. JEFFREY SHONKA has been named vice president and treasurer. Shonka has 16 years of experience in the insurance industry and was previously president at Amwest Insurance Group, Inc. in Casablancas, Calif. STEPHEN TABUSSI has been named vice president of customer solutions with responsibility for developing new customer solutions. Tabussi most recently managed marketing projects for the Fireman's Fund Insurance in Novato, Calif.

BRADLEY HO has joined The Hawaiian Insurance & Guaranty Co. as a claims adjuster. Ho has 13 years of field experience and will support HIG's statewide servicing of all claims.

• Sheraton Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotels have announced two appointments: ALEXANDER CUEVAS has been named front office manager at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel. He has been with the hotel since 1991, most recently as a guest service manager. CAMILLE TESHIMA has been appointed as rooms manager for the Sheraton Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotels. She was most recently the front office manager for the Princess Kaiulani, and joined the company in 1987.

• This Week Magazines has named WALTER MAKAULA and JEFFREY D. WILLIAMS to senior account executive for This Week Oahu. Makaula comes to the company with 10 years of sales and marketing experience. Williams has background in advertising, sales, marketing and the visitor industry.
