• A number of pieces displayed in public spaces are gifts or purchases that were not paid for through the One Percent for Art program administered by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts: The Duke Kahanamoku statue in Waikiki, donated by the Waikiki Improvement Association; the Princess Ka'iulani statue in Waikiki, paid for by Outrigger Hotels & Resorts; and Paul Saviskas' "Whooping Cranes" and "Masai Warrior," donated by the artist. An Island Life story posted Sept. 15 left an incorrect impression because of an error by the writer.
