Advertiser Staff

Dozens of telecommunications and technology leaders, venture capitalists and others will gather for the Pacific Telecommunications Council's 25th annual conference in January.

The PTC2003 conference — set for Jan. 19-23 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village — will focus on the theme "Global Broadband/Global Challenges."

It will bring together a mix of CEOs, CTOs and CFOs, as well as venture capitalists, senior industry observers and high-level government officials.

Among the speakers will be Irwin Mark Jacobs, co-founder and chief executive of Qualcomm Inc. Jacobs will speak Jan. 20 as part of a panel of international executives who will focus on the global telecom crisis.

"Dr. Jacobs is one of the leading telecom experts in the world," said Hoyt Zia, executive director of the Pacific Telecommunications Council, sponsor of the event.

Among the workshops is "Where Do We Go From Here? The Growth, Rebuilding and Restructuring of Asia's Telecommunications Markets," led by Phillip Spector, managing partner of the Washington, D.C., office of the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
