Nominations for SBA awards open
The U.S. Small Business Administration has opened the annual nominations for the 2003 SBA Small Business Awards.
The awards honor outstanding accomplishments of local businesses in several categories: Small Business Person of the Year, SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Exporter of the Year, and Entrepreneurial Success Awards.
The association also recognizes small-business supporters in the areas of women, veterans, journalism, minority business, financial services and business research.
The Hawai'i District Office of the SBA is seeking small-business success stories in the Islands and will select top candidates on each island.
Nomination forms are available from the SBA by calling the Honolulu office at 541-2990. Completed nomination packets for the Hawai'i awards are due at 300 Ala Moana, Room 2-235 by Nov. 15.
Women's group offering seminar
The Hawaii Women's Business Center is offering a Saturday seminar on "Listening To Your Business."
The seminar, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is developed by FastTrac and the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and focuses on help for those seeking to start a business or business owners looking to make a change.
The seminar will be held at the Small Business Resource Center, 1041 Nu'uanu Ave., Suite A. Cost is $35 by today; $45 after today. For information, contact Oliv'e at 522-8136.
