Baldwin grad visits Bush

Advertiser Staff

Kaleo Eldredge, a 2001 Baldwin High School graduate, had an audience with President Bush at the White House yesterday.

Eldredge, starting center fielder on University of California's NCAA champion softball team, was among a few dozen national collegiate champions who were honored by Bush in the state dining room and attended a press conference in the East Room.

Though she did not get to meet the president personally, Eldredge told The Advertiser the experience was "pretty cool."

"It was, like wow, I'm actually entering the White House," Eldredge said. "It's pretty big and pretty amazing, everything I expected."

It was the first trip to Washington for Eldredge. "We saw the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Wall, the eternal flame at President Kennedy's grave at Arlington National Cemetery, and got a tour of the FBI headquarters," she said.

Cal returns to Berkeley tonight.
