It's party time at Puck's Alley

If only bar-hopping was always this easy and jam-packed with music.

The Bud Light Block Party, tonight (8 p.m.-2 a.m.) throughout the Puck's Alley area, promises food and drinks galore, and more than 20 bands playing something for everyone at Anna Bannanas, Bedroq Bar & Grill, Eastside Grill, Pa'ina Hou and Players Sports & Entertainment Club. A trolley will stop at each bar (and will strictly stop at the bars only) about every half hour through 1 a.m.

A $10 wristband can be purchased at any of the participating spots and gets attendees through all five doors and access to the trolley all night long. Here's the lineup:

Feel like dancing?

Shake your booty to Shaka Jambá, an Afro-Caribbean-World Rhythm music group that proudly claims to be able to "put a smile on your face and a wiggle in your waist."

The group will perform 9:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Saturday at Anna Bannanas on 2440 Beretania St. The smoke-free event is open to those 21 and older. Admission is $5. Call 946-5190.


Showcasing 'The Good Life' for seniors

The 18th annual Hawai'i Seniors' Fair — The Good Life Expo, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, will provide tons of information, products and services "for people from the age of Benny Goodman to the age of Aquarius who seek out the good life and all its fun," said Ray Sweeney, an event spokesman.

More than 250 exhibits will offer flu and pneumonia vaccinations and other health testings, financial- and travel-related presentations, computer classes, exercise and cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, interactive games, and continuous entertainment on two stages. Rock the night away

Stay up way past your bedtime for School Night Rocks, a concert featuring The Beta Release, The Haunted Pines, Linus and Littlejeans. The all-ages show will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Pipeline Café and costs $5 at the door. 589-1999.


Dream on

Have you ever had a profound or strange dream — like falling from a building or being chased — and wanted to find out what it meant?

You can learn how to interpret such dreams from a spiritual perspective at the Hawai'i Dream Fair: The Secret Wisdom of Dreams, a free event presented by Eckankar in Hawai'i, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Kapi'olani Park Bandstand.

Fair-goers will "see the great value of dreams and how (dreams) can help them in their daily life," said Hillarie Hamilton of Eckankar. Organizers will give visitors the tools and techniques to interpret their own dreams via skits, introductory workshops and forums. 735-7719.


'Sunset' returns to Waikiki with food, music and films

Russell Crowe stars as mathematician John Forbes Nash Jr. in the Oscar-winning "A Beautiful Mind," which will be screened Sunday night at "Sunset on the Beach."

Bring a towel or a beach chair and relax as the food/music/movie fest "Sunset on the Beach" hits Queen's Surf Beach Saturday and Sunday. It begins at 4 p.m., with food booths and music; at 4:30 p.m., musical groups Pohaku (Saturday) and Jook Joint (Sunday) will turn on the sounds. At 7 p.m. the movies will be rolled out — Julia Roberts in an edited version of "Erin Brockovich" on Saturday, Russell Crowe in "A Beautiful Mind" on Sunday — on that 30-foot screen.

Among the eateries offering their ware will be Moani's Country Kitchen, Ocean Steak House, Auntie Pasto's, Davey Jones Ribs, Royal Hawaiian Hot Dog, Pizza Hut, Nutty Hawaiian, Popcorn Express and Beach House Beverage Cart.

All jazzed up at UH

Join Keahi Conjugacion & Friends for an evening of jazz 6-8 p.m. today at University of Hawai'i's Manoa Gardens, presented by Abe Weinstein and World Music Association. The UH Campus Center hired Weinstein and the association to put on three jazz concerts (tonight's free show is the first) on the last Friday of the month throughout the fall semester. Thanks to grandparents

In honor of grandparents islandwide, the Hawai'i Medical Service Association and Hawai'i Children's Discovery Center has planned a day full of activities for the entire 'ohana 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the center. Grandparents and grandchildren can create a memory book together, the keiki can try out a bunch of interactive exhibits, and there will be free popcorn, bananas and pineapple juice for everyone.

The event aims to recognize grandparents for all they do to nurture the younger generations, and it kicks off Intergeneration Week, which will be celebrated statewide Sunday through Oct. 6. Admission for the event is $3 for each grandparent with one child's paid admission of $6.75, and $8 for adults. Fashion show celebrates Korean centennial

Vicky Cayetano, Lynne Waihee, Jean Ariyoshi and Ramona Harris will be among the celebrity models strutting their stuff down the runway at the Korean Centennial Gala Fashion Show, 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom.

The show, part of the festivities celebrating 100 years of Korean immigration to the United States and Hawai'i, will feature 120 new designs by Jeanie Chun, director of design for Jean Michel USA. The designs incorporate South Korean fabrics with traditional motifs and bold colors, but in modern designs.

The show will be preceded by a cultural exhibit with photos and traditional furniture by Dong Dae Moon Co. at 10:30 a.m., and lunch with door prizes at noon. Tickets are $50. Call 373-1852 or 261-1998.
