Wood show winners announced

The 10th annual Hawai'i's Woodshow 2002, organized by the Hawai'i Forest Industry Association, was a record-setting event with more than 5,500 visitors this year, organizers said. The Sept. 14-22 show at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center showcased Hawai'i's finest woodwork. Winners of the juried competition were:
Best of Show: Robert Holden of O'ahu, Sculpture category.
First Place: Furniture: Tom Calhoun, Maui; Turning: Michael Smith, Big Island; Sculpture: Frank McClure, Big Island; Open: Calhoun; Musical Instrument: Martin Guitar Co., Pennsylvania; Novice: T. Dilcher, O'ahu.
Honorable Mention: Open: Rita Holden, O'ahu; Musical Instrument: R.W. "Rollo" Scheurenbrand, O'ahu; Furniture: Tom Zelko, O'ahu; Furniture: Alan Wilkinson, O'ahu; Turning: R.B. Michaelis, Big Island; Turning: Elmer Adams, Big Island; Furniture: Tai Lake, Big Island; Open: Tuione Pulotu, O'ahu.
Artist's Choice Award: Robert Holden and Lake (tie).
People's Choice Award: Sam Hadar and Bryson Jhung of O'ahu, Furniture category.
