UH-Hilo offering tennis lessons

The University of Hawai'i-Hilo Tennis Program will offer daily lessons through its Vulcan Junior Tennis program.

Conducted by UH-Hilo coaches Kula Oda and Ryan Ideta, lessons will be afternoons, Monday through Friday, starting Tuesday.

The monthly fee is based on the number of children enrolled per family. One child will be $40, two will be $75 and more than three will be $100.

• Schofield tournament: The Hawai'i Tennis Foundation is sponsoring a compass-draw format singles tournament at the Schofield Tennis Facility on Oct. 12-13.

Women and men, military or civilian, are welcome.

Entry fee is $10 per person. The event is designed for players of all ages and abilities, as losing players will play as much as winners.

In addition to tournament play, the event will include a Saturday pot luck luncheon. The foundation will provide beverages.
