Tube Notes

Tonight's Must-See

"The Green Mile" (1999), 7 p.m., ABC. Top talents — Tom Hanks, Stephen King and director Frank Darabont — combined for an erratic movie with moments of brilliance. The setting is a prison in 1935 Louisiana; a death row inmate radiates spirituality.

Of Note

"Touched by an Angel" season opener, 7 p.m., CBS. Usually, this show settles for dealing with individual problems. Tonight it adds a cosmic touch as a man (Robert Pastorelli) takes a camping trip to mend his relationship with his son.

"8 Simple Rules" (5 and 5:30 p.m.) and "Life With Bonnie" (6 and 6:30 p.m.), ABC Family. One of ABC's cable channels reruns episodes of these two above-average comedies.
