'Ewa plantation house destroyed

Advertiser Staff

At least 10 fire companies responded to a fire today that destroyed an old plantation house in Varona Village in 'Ewa.

There were no reports of injuries.

The alarm was received shortly after noon for the fire at the corner of Koahi and Lei Aloalo streets.

Along with a brushfire that flared up again today in Kalihi Valley, about one-third of the Honolulu Fire Department's personnel was out fighting fires at one point today, Fire Capt. Richard Soo said. The brushfire started Saturday and was in a remote area.
