UH-Manoa to host legislator
The College of Social Sciences and Public Policy Center at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa has announced that state Rep. Hermina Morita is one of two legislators selected for an innovative "Legislator-in-Residence" program.
The Public Administration Program and Women's Studies Department will host Morita in this inaugural curriculum that will explore policy issues and strengthen the link between the community, policy-makers and the college.
"Rep. Morita was nominated for her noteworthy commitment to the solid environmental policy that is so critical to Hawai'i," said Professor Kathy Ferguson, Director of the Women's Studies Department. "The program is structured so students can explore topics of particular importance to Hawai'i and express their ideas, so I have no doubt that she has a lot to contribute to that process."
Morita is chairwoman of the House committee on Energy and Environmental Protection. She is completing her third term.
