Rainbow Wahine rout Weber State in soccer

Advertiser Staff

Mia Moe celebrated her 22nd birthday last night with a first-half goal that kick-started the University of Hawai'i women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Weber State at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

The win boosted the Rainbow Wahine's record to 3-5-2 and avenged Friday night's 3-2 loss to Weber State (4-5-1).

Moe, a 1999 Punahou graduate who redshirted last year after transferring from Loyola Marymount, took a pass from Erin Quattromani and chipped in a shot that caromed off the left upright and into the goal 26 minutes, 24 seconds into the game.

Freshman Carmen Calpo's header — off a brilliant move and pass from Quattromani along the end line — pushed UH's lead to 2-0 at 33:32 and Arlene Devitt's goal 18 seconds before the half made it 3-0.

Devitt also assisted on Tia Medeiros' second-half goal.
