THEM'S THE BREAKS: When the makers of the Fox-TV pilot "The Break" took to the streets of Waikiki last week, passers-by may have noticed a peculiarity: counterflow traffic heading makai on Monsarrat Avenue in front of the Waikiki Shell parking lot.

The scene from John Stockwell's pilot, groomed as the next from-Hawai'i series, had star Dylan Bruno pursuing a heavy, played by Shane Garcia (with Danny Kim as stunt double), from Kapi'olani Park to Monsarrat, culminating in an accident: A "Hot Malasadas" truck heads down the street and hits a dummy runner suspended from a cherry-picker gizmo. Marks, a 25-year member of the Hawai'i Opera Theatre board, wound up at both of her concerts, played golf with her and fellow lawyer Gunner Schull at O'ahu Country Club ("She's a great shot ... and an incredible voice") and clearly has a new friend in "Flicka." Ballet Hawaii president Susie Schull, Gunner's wife, joined them for lunch. ...
