Watumull named to Wall of Fame

Advertiser Staff

Vik Watumull of Honolulu is to be honored next week for his leadership of the Susan G. Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure; his photograph will be installed on the Wall of Fame at Compadres Bar & Grill and a luncheon is planned in his honor April 8 at the restaurant.

Watumull, who heads Happy Shirts, a family business, has been race chairman for the past eight years. He served as president of the Duke Kahanamoku Foundation and has been involved with the Honolulu Marathon Association and Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.

The Wall of Fame luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. with "roasts and toasts" and entertainment by Kalae Loa. Guests will include former Lt. Gov. Mazie Hirono and the honoree's mother, Indru Watumull, a breast cancer survivor who helped get the event started here. Reservations, at $50 (or $500 per table), may be made with Elissa Josphsohn Public Relations, 732-7733.

The charity run, with more than 5,000 annual participants, this year will be on Oct. 26 at Kapi'olani Park.
