Gymnasts vie at Blaisdell

More than 450 gymnasts will compete in the 2003 Region II Gymnastics Championships today through Sunday at Blaisdell Arena.

Gymnasts from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Hawai'i will take part. Competition will be held in levels 7 through 10, with 10 being the most advanced.

Hawai'i's top competitors include Nicole Little, Sierra Jacobs, Ina Higashi-Izumi, Megan Harada, Erin Geary and Natasha Sagasa.

The regional championships determine gymnasts who will advance to the Junior Olympic National Championships in May.

Hawai'i last hosted this event in 1994.

Tickets are $5 per day for youth (ages 5 to 17) and $10 per day for adults.



Schedule

Today—Level 7 (1 p.m. to 8 p.m.)

Tomorrow—Level 9 (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

Saturday—Level 8 ( 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.)

Saturday—Level 10 (1:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.)

Sunday—Level 8 (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
