UH men's basketball banquet set

The University of Hawai'i men's basketball awards banquet is April 16 at the Hawai'i Prince Hotel.

Awards include Most Outstanding Player, Most Inspirational Player, Best Defensive Player and Scholar-Athlete.

The 'Bows completed a 19-12 season last month with a second-round appearance in the National Invitation Tournament.

A cocktail reception will begin around 6 p.m., with dinner and the program to follow.

Tickets are $40 per person. For reservations, call the UH basketball office at 956-6501.

SAILING

UH wins: The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team captured 16 of 26 races in the two-day St. Francis Invitational in San Francisco, last weekend to win the event for the first time in five years.

Hawai'i scored 53 points, followed by USC (108), Stanford (133), UC Irvine (158) and the USC women (188).

Hawai'i's A-Division team, led by Bryan Lake and Jennifer Warnock, had 31 points and won eight races. The B-Division team, led by Sarah Hitchcock, scored 22 points.

SOFTBALL

Choy Foo honored: Hawai'i Pacific softball player Brandy Choy Foo was named Pacific West Conference Co-Player of the Week yesterday.

Choy Foo, a junior from Waimanalo, hit .400 in 11 games last week, including a 10-for-17 performance at the Easton Tournament of Champions in Modesto, Calif.
