BUSINESS BRIEFS
Bill to merge agencies fails

Advertiser Staff and News Services

State planning authority Aloha Tower Development Corp. will likely retain its development oversight of the Aloha Tower area instead of merging with the Hawai'i Community Development Authority, the agency guiding redevelopment of Kaka'ako.

A bill that would consolidated development authority of the two areas, Senate Bill 1287, failed to advance in several House committees.

At an Aloha Tower Development Corp. meeting yesterday, board member and Transportation Department Deputy Director Glenn Okimoto said the bill is considered dead for this session.

Forms issued for tax credit

The Department of Taxation yesterday released new and revised forms that taxpayers and businesses benefiting from the state's technology investment and research tax credits need to complete.

The new forms will give the state a better idea of the jobs, salaries and other benefits created by Act 221. The earliest deadline for filing the forms is June 16. Taxpayers who submitted previous versions of the forms must complete the new ones or their tax credit will be denied.

Forms are available at www.state.hi.us/tax or by calling 587-7572.
