Q & A

Q. What is the system of officers' ranks in the different branches of service?

A. The Army, Air Force and Marines use the same rankings for officers, with general being the highest designation, followed by lieutenant general, major general, brigadier general, colonel, lieutenant colonel, major, captain, first lieutenant and second lieutenant. For the Navy and Coast Guard, it's admiral, vice admiral, rear admiral upper half, rear admiral lower half, captain, commander, lieutenant commander, lieutenant, lieutenant junior grade, and ensign.

"The Tip of the Spear"

The 332nd's A-10 Thunderbolt II tank-killers destroyed nearly all of Iraq's tanks, smoothing the path for ground troops and eliminating one of Iraq's most lethal military assets. "Warthog,"a two-engine warplane, can maneuver at low altitudes and blast tanks with AGM Maverick missiles and a Gatling gun that can fire 3,900 rounds per minute.
