Hayashi, Chun tied for Mid-Pac Open lead

Philip Chun shot the low round of the day, a 2-under-par 70 yesterday to tie Kevin Hayashi for the second-round lead in the $25,000 Mid-Pac Open at the Mid-Pacific Country Club in Lanikai.

Chun, who opened with a 71 on Thursday, and Hayashi, who shot 71 yesterday, are tied at 3-under 141 after 36 holes.

Defending champion Regan Lee, the first-round leader with a 68, shot a 2-over 74 and is one stroke back at 142.

Jerry Mullen (72) and amateur Parker McLachlin (72) are at even-par 144, with two-time Mid-Pac champion (1972 and 2001), Larry Stubblefield (74), Tommy Ukauka (75), Brian Sasada (72) and Kevin Carll (73) tied at 145.

This year's tournament is dedicated to Bob Togikawa, Mid-Pac's longtime course superintendent who retired recently.

The start of today's third round tees off at 7 a.m. Tomorrow's fourth and final round will also start at 7.
