Man charged in sex assaults

Police charged Eric Paulo, 37, on Saturday with second-degree sexual assault in connection with offenses involving a 17-year-old girl that occurred in Kahuku between last Dec. 1 and Jan. 31, 2003. Paulo's bail is $75,000.


Arson blamed for school blaze

A fire that firefighters say was deliberately set caused an estimated $40,000 damage to a portable storage shed at Roosevelt High School Sunday.

Firefighters responded to an anonymous tip and found the shed on fire at 3 a.m. Graffiti was also found on walls of several buildings, police said.


Two killed in car crash identified

The medical examiner's office yesterday identified the two 21-year-old Navy men killed

Saturday in a 1:25 a.m. car crash on Kamehameha Highway as Keith Aguilar of Pearl City and Sean McNamara of the USS Port Royal. Police said their westbound 2001 Honda Civic sheared off one traffic signal pole before striking a second signal pole. Speed and alcohol appear to be factors.

Through Saturday, 27 people have been killed on O'ahu roadways this year.

Suspect held in stabbing

A 39-year-old man was charged by police Sunday with second-degree assault in connection with the stabbing of a man at 12:15 a.m. Saturday on 'Akeukeu Street in Pearl City. The 21-year-old victim was stabbed three times.

Michael Savoy, 39, is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail. Police did not have information on the victim's condition other than it is not critical.
