HAWAI'I'S BACHELOR
Choosing a bachelorette is hard work

Kelly Komoda's dating diary from his second time out with the bachelorettes.

Dear reader,

Bachelor Kelly Komoda said his main objective from the beginning was to have fun and meet new people.

Jeff Widener • The Honolulu Advertiser

What's next?

Coming Friday in Island Life: Read all about the second date and find out which bachelorettes survived Round 2.

Online only: Check back here Friday to read new dating diaries, see the photo gallery and view the video from Round 2 of our dating game.

There are two questions that people ask me wherever I go. The first is" "Who got eliminated this week?" The second question is: "Who are you going to choose at the end?"

Unfortunately, I cannot answer the first question until the Friday after each date, when The Advertiser publishes the Hawai'i's Bachelor story (and KQMQ radio announces results from the date).

The second question is a bit more difficult to answer. There are many pools going on about which bachelorette is going to be the final one; therefore, my answer to the second question is: "It is too soon to say."

All of the remaining bachelorettes are fun to be with. If you have a bet on a certain bachelorette, you'll just have to be patient and follow along in the paper each week.

This week's elimination process had nothing to do with the voting polls.

(Although I may use it again if I feel like it.) I was actually too tired to go to my mom's house to use the computer before the outing on Saturday. I just went with my gut feeling and decided on which ones had the most to say in the five minutes that I spent with each of them.

It's unfortunate that some people are taking this thing way too seriously. (Editor's note: Komoda is referring to the hubbub that erupted Friday morning after bachelorette Jenn Lee revealed, during an on-air phone call from KQMQ, that she's started dating — someone else, prompting several e-mails to hawaiisbachelor@honoluluadvertiser.com.)

I think some of the people who e-mail negative responses are taking this bachelor game much more seriously than I or most of the bachelorettes do.

My main objective, from the start of this whole experience, was to have fun and meet new people.

My other objective was to leave readers with happy and positive things to read about in the paper, since there is usually just too much bad news going on in the world.

I hope you are having fun reading and following this, too.

Until next time,
Kelly Komoda
