Sailors of Year to be named at awards dinner

Six U.S. Pacific Fleet sailors will be honored tomorrow and two will be selected as Sailors of the Year.

The 31st annual Pacific Fleet Sailor of the Year Awards Dinner is organized by the Honolulu Council of the Navy League of the United States.

The event will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Prince Kuhio Radisson Hotel. Pacific Fleet commander Adm. Walter F. Doran will announce two winners: sea duty and shore duty.

The shore finalists are QM1 (SW) Paul Edward Oxley, AD1 (AW) Frankie B. Sanchez, and DK1 (SW/AW) Edward J. Wisner Jr.

The sea finalists are MM1 (SW/AW) Phillip Lee Dennis, MM1 (SS) Nicholas H. Naquin III, and SM1 (SW) Toby A. Ruiz.
