800 athletes expected for Punahou Relays

More than 800 athletes from 25 Hawai'i high schools will compete in 30 running and field events at the 58th annual Punahou Relays Invitational Track Meet, April 24 and 26 at Punahou School's Alexander Field.

Trials are at 3:45 p.m. April 24 and finals April 26 at 10:30 a.m.

Hawai'i's Fastest Human 100-meter dash competition is at 1:05 p.m., and the Football/Power Relay at 11:20 a.m., which features the fastest 200-plus pound runners.

Okamoto tournament set

Girls and boys teams are invited to participate in the 2003 Longy Okamoto Classic Tournament Aug. 21-23. Girls will play at 'Aiea and Radford and boys at Moanalua and Pearl City.

The annual volleyball tournament is run by Kamali'i Volleyball Club and the Okamoto family. Entrance fee is $150 per team. Teams can request preferred sites and nights.

Classic T-shirts, featuring the late junior coach, are available for pre-order with the entry fee.

Braden to put on workshop

Vic Braden, former tennis pro and now a prominent author, sports educator and speaker, will be featured at the U.S. Tennis Association/Hawai'i Pacific Section's annual Coaches Workshop.

The workshop runs all day May 24 and 25 at Turtle Bay Resort. U.S. Professional Tennis Association members can receive continuing education credits. Special room rates are available at the resort.

Workshop cost is $150 if you register before April 21 and $175 after.
