JEAN SINGLEHURST MASON contracted polio when she was 27, but she didn't let that stop her from raising a family and becoming a leading advocate for people with disabilities. Mason, who was active in the community despite being in a wheelchair for most of her adult life, died Monday after a brief illness. She was 76. See story.

CLARA DOLLY DOSS VICTORINO AH SING, 79, of Kurtistown, Hawai'i, died April 15, 2003. Born in Pi'ihonua, Hilo, Hawai'i. Retired nurse's aide of the former Hilo Hospital extended care division. Survived by daughters, Sandi Anthony, Dorothy Akau and Phyllis Oliva; stepdaughter, Shirley Ann Thomas; sons, Fred "Hogan" Victorino Jr. and Kenneth Victorino; stepsons, Kaleo and Alfred; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren. EMILY "MUTZY" LORRAINE CASSIDY, 85, of Keauhou, Hawai'i, and Waikoloa, Hawai'i, died April 16, 2003. Born in Pago Pago, American Samoa. Retired beautician.
