SAILING

• ILH regatta today: The second half of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu sailing championship regatta will be held today with free spectator boats leaving from Waikiki and Hawai'i yacht clubs just prior to 4:30 p.m.

Mid-Pacific beat Punahou in the first half of the final regatta Thursday, but Punahou still holds a significant lead. Low score wins and in unofficial calculations, Punahou has 414 points to 533.5 for Maryknoll and 641.5 for Mid-Pacific. There are nine schools in the varsity division.

Finishes in the final regatta count for 70 percent of season scores and total points in the four earlier regattas count for 30 percent.

On Thursday, Mid-Pacific scored 41, Punahou 48 and Maryknoll 55. In the earlier regattas, Punahou had 246, Maryknoll 371 and Mid-Pacific 498.

SURFING

• Robb dominates: Kalani Robb of Hawai'i dominated the early action of the 2003 Rip Curl Pro yesterday at Bells Beach in Australia.

Robb, 26, displayed superb form on clean, 3-foot surf in his heat against Paulo Moura of Brazil. Robb collected a 9.17 and an 8.1 for the day's highest combined point total.

"It usually takes me a bit longer in the year to get used to competing again, but I'm feeling good," said Robb, who is guaranteed his best Rip Curl finish (ninth place or better) in nine appearances.
