Woman may have jumped from H-1 overpass

Westbound traffic on H-1 was slowed between 5:35 and 7:05 a.m. today as police investigated the death of woman who apparently jumped from the Pali Highway overpass.

Police said the woman, believed to be in her 60s, apparently jumped from the overpass and was hit by a car.

The driver left the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed today's incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone, or traffic investigators at 529-3499.

The death last week of a woman, 44, who jumped from the Queen Emma overpass onto H-1 and was struck by a car has been ruled a suicide, according to the medical examiner's office.


Charges filed in theft of bananas

Police yesterday charged a man and woman with second-degree theft for allegedly stealing an estimated $1,000 worth of bananas from Soukaseum Farm in Kahuku.

James Paikai, 54, and Melisa Madijanon, 29, are being held in lieu of $11,000 bail each.

The two were arrested Sunday at 2:40 a.m. after police discovered bundles of bananas near their vehicles and a section of the farm's perimeter fence cut.


Three rob jewelry store on Kapi'olani

Three men fled with several hundred dollars worth of jewelers' equipment in an armed robbery Sunday at 1507 Kapi'olani Boulevard. The three men entered the Island Creations Jewelers' suite and forced the guard into a closet.

The robbery was reported at 10:10 p.m.
