Services set for cancer awareness advocate

Advertiser Staff

Services for cancer awareness advocate Karen Stern will be held Saturday at Unity Church of Hawai'i, 3608 Diamond Head Circle.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. Services will be from noon to 1 p.m., with a reception to follow in the courtyard until 2:30 p.m.

Stern, 63, was a longtime community volunteer who in the weeks before her death continued to work to increase awareness about the often-subtle symptoms of ovarian cancer.

Stern had asked that anyone wishing to make a donation contribute to ovarian cancer research through the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, 910 17th St., N.W., Suite 413, Washington, DC 20006, or www.ovariancancer.org.
