Price hike for live UH football on television

Advertiser Staff

It will cost O'ahu fans up to $35 to order a live pay-per-view telecast of "premium" University of Hawai'i home football games this season, school and Oceanic Time Warner Cable officials announced yesterday.

For viewers on O'ahu, a season package (six games) may be purchased for $100. Last year's season subscribers who renew between May 1 and July 15 will be charged a reduced season fee of $75. Single-game prices are $25 for a regular game and $35 for a "premium game," such as the one against Fresno State Oct. 11.

Last year, the top single-game price was $12.95.

For Neighbor Island viewers, the prices are $40 for a season package ($25 for renewals between May 1 and July 25), and $10 or $15 for single games.

Bars and restaurants will be charged $55 per viewable seat.

"Pay-per-view offers a service to our fans who are unable to make it out to Aloha Stadium to watch our football games," UH athletic director Herman Frazier said in a news release.

To subscribe, call Oceanic at 643-2337.

Free telecasts of six home games will still be shown delayed the same night on K5.
