Iolani girls soccer coach resigns

Advertiser Staff

Sandy Shimogaki Hamura has resigned after two years as head Iolani girls soccer coach.

In a letter to her players, Hamura revealed she and her husband, Damon, are expecting their first child in mid-December.

"Since the due date unfortunately falls right in the middle of the varsity season, I feel I will not be able to fulfill my responsibilities of being a mother, wife and varsity head coach at this time," she said.

Athletic director Judy Hiramoto said that applications for the job will be accepted until May 12.
