Man indicted in death of daughter

A Mililani man has been indicted by an O'ahu grand jury on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of his year-old daughter.

David Mora, 31, is accused of fatally injuring his daughter, Isabelle Mora, on Feb. 6, 2002, by punching her in the stomach.

Mora had been convicted several months earlier in a domestic abuse case involving the girl's mother, Yasmine Barbour.

Japanese citizen charged in robbery

Police yesterday charged a 33-year-old citizen of Japan in connection with Tuesday's robbery at Sea Wind Surf & Street shop in Wai-kiki during which a 42-year-old woman was nearly choked to death.

Daiki Iba of an Ala Moana address was arraigned today at District Court on attempted murder and second-degree robbery charges. Bail was set at $200,000.

Police responding to a silent alarm holdup call resuscitated the woman, a co-owner of the business. Police said Iba was crouched over the unconscious woman when they arrived at the scene.

Man pleads guilty in airline incident

A Sri Lankan citizen pleaded guilty in federal court yesterday to interfering with the duties of flight crew members while traveling on a Philippines Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Manila on March 14.

Porastus Chanda Sri Dissanyake, 26, was accused of striking a flight attendant once in the back and twice in the face after becoming unhappy with the headphones that had been given to him.

Dissanyake faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 when he is sentenced on July 7.
