Advertiser Staff

Aloha Airlines is adding a daily non-stop flight between Kona and Santa Ana in Orange County, Calif., beginning July 2.

The airlines is offering a special $399 roundtrip fare for travel between July 2 and July 31 to introduce the flight. The fare does not include an $18.60 fuel surcharge and $5 security fee.

The number of seats are limited.

Deadline nears for technicians

Twenty Verizon Hawaii technicians on O'ahu and Maui have until mid-May to decide whether to accept "enhanced" early-retirement packages or face the possibility of layoffs by the end of May.

The early retirements are an attempt to avoid layoffs, a Verizon spokeswoman said.

In October, Verizon eliminated 72 other positions through similar retirement packages. In February, Verizon also said it will stop providing telecommunications relay services for the hearing- and speech-impaired, affecting 15 employees.
