The University of Hawai'i football game at Nevada Las Vegas has been moved one day earlier to Friday, Sept. 19, to allow it to be televised on ESPN2, UNLV officials announced yesterday.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. Hawai'i time.

UH athletic director Herman Frazier said the decision was made by UNLV, ESPN and Mountain West Conference officials.

"We are aware of the travel plans that affect our fans," Frazier said in a prepared statement, "but we hope this serves as adequate time to make necessary changes so the Warrior faithful can still accompany our football team to Las Vegas."

The Warriors, members of the Western Athletic Conference, open the season Aug. 30 at home against Appalachian State, then after a week off, play consecutive road games at Southern California in Los Angeles and UNLV.

Several tour operators have already begun advertising packages for the Southern California and Las Vegas games.

Hawai'i's game with Boise State on Dec. 6 at Aloha Stadium also is scheduled to be televised nationally by ESPN.
