Mid-Pacific rolls in ILH tourney, 18-1

Grant Yamaguchi pitched a seven-hitter and batted 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs as Mid-Pacific routed Maryknoll, 18-1, yesterday in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Double-Elimination Baseball Tournament at Mo'ili'ili Field.

Mid-Pacific, the defending state champion, improved to 8-7-1 overall and 1-1 in the tournament.

The Owls' Ryan Leong batted 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs, Ryan Asato went 3-for-3 with a triple and four runs scored and Randy Rundgren was 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs.

The Spartans (1-15, 0-2) were eliminated from the tournament.

• PUNAHOU 15, IOLANI 3: Michael Kim batted 2-for-5 with three RBIs and Justin Ariki went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the Buffanblu routed the Raiders at Ala Wai Field. Punahou's Kasey Ko, Mark Veneri, Kyle Kabei, Kaohi Downing and Shaun Kiriu also paired hits.
